Prof. Dr. David Bishai
Associate Professor, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, United States

David Bishai is associate professor at the department of population and family health
Sciences at Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has broad experience in the economic
evaluation of public health programs and technologies, in western settings as well as in
settings with limited resources.
He has published extensively on the economic consequences of numerous healthcare
strategies, such as vaccination programmes, injury control measures, and STD control
activities. His recent research included willingness to pay for meningococcal vaccine,
the cost-effectiveness of screening for tuberculosis and the cost-effectiveness of
antiretroviral treatment in resource limited settings.
Prof. Dr. Maarten Postma
Professor of pharmacoeconomics, University of Groningen, the Netherlands

Maarten Postma is professor at the department Social Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology. His
research fields comprise the pharmacoeconomics of nephrological/cardiovascular disease,
gastro-intestinal disease, blood products and infectious diseases, such as HIV, influenza
and chlamydia trachomatis.
Maarten Postma has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals, such as AIDS,
British Medical Journal, Health Policy, PharmacoEconomics and Vaccine. He is a member of the
Dutch Committee on Pharmaceutical Aid and the Health Council, both advising on the reimbursement
of new drugs and vaccines.
