There is an interesting workshop coming up on various HTA modeling approaches. It is taking place right before the Society for Medical Decision Making’s Biennial European meeting in Austria, May 2010.

This workshop is organized by Uwe Siebert and colleagues, and will cover:

Modeling overview and taxonomy

Decision trees, state-transition and Markov models

Handling uncertainty and variability

Microsimulation models

Discrete event simulation models

Handling individual behavior and waiting lines

Infectious disease models

Handling dynamic transmissions and herd immunity

Other modeling approaches (e.g., agent-based models, system dynamics models, causal influence models, biologic systems models)

BaseCase Interactive is a web-application that runs within the web browser. Until recently, you needed an internet connection to work with your dashboards and models.

But when making an important dashboard presentations, our customers don’t want to be completely dependent on internet access. A reliable internet connection is often, but not always available. For these situations, our development team has developed technology that allows users to access their dashboards without an internet connection.

When ‘Offline mode’ is enabled, all dashboard simulation data is downloaded locally to the user’s desktop computer. This happens seamlessly in the background, and after the syncronization is completed, the dashboard can be used without an internet connection.

With ‘Offline mode’, any mathematical model can now be easily used online AND offline, combining the power of a web application with the reliability of desktop software.

The cost-effectiveness plane (CE-plane) is an important graph in cost-effectiveness analysis. It graphically shows the difference in costs and health effects between different health care strategies or options.

BaseCase Interactive now includes an interactive version of the CE-plane. This innovation marks an important step towards our goal of making the results of cost-effectiveness analysis easier to communicate. Try out one of our demos to see the ce plane in action.
