How US MedTech field teams can better engage hospital decision makers using large Medicare and Medicaid datasets

Medicare and Medicaid data available from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) presents MedTech companies with a rich source of data on US hospitals. Because of its high impact, data from such sources is increasingly being incorporated into presentations and interactive tools for field teams. Giving customers new insights into their own data is a great way to engage and gain attention for new products, and it allows field teams to prioritize accounts.

Ideally, MedTech companies would give their field teams access to up-to-date information from sources such as CMS in a way that allows them to present a tailored analysis to each stakeholder. But giving field teams access to such large datasets comes with challenges:

  • Large volumes of data are unwieldy. Often stretching hundreds of thousands of rows, the sheer size of the datasets leads to technical challenges. It’s also impractical for field teams to work directly with data sources.
  • High risks of non-compliance. Field teams having direct access to databases usually results in manually copying data into their slide decks, increasing compliance risks.
  • Hard to maintain. Data sources are constantly updating, and ensuring that field teams can easily access the most up-to-date data in a compliant manner is a difficult, yet necessary task.

BaseCase Data Manager now makes it possible for field teams to use Medicare and Medicaid datasets more effectively.

BaseCase is a cloud-based value communication platform for the life sciences industry. Our new Data Manager add-on removes technical issues associated with using large datasets in the field.

Data Manager enables market access teams to create field tools that are backed by large datasets. Field teams can now present tailored analyses to customers using large datasets, while remaining fully compliant. Dataset calculations can then be included in auto-generated PDF leave behinds. Additionally, Data Manager has been designed to allow for easy, in-house updates, allowing you to keep your dataset-backed tools up-to-date.
